Job news (because Mom wants to know)

I got a call yesterday from the HR director -- returning my call about name spellings for my thank you notes -- and she spilled the beans that I was not in the final two for the Community Affairs Specialist position. I am not sad. While the money would have been nice, I really wasn't looking forward to project management, and I'd be hard-pressed to justify declining an offer when I'm a single parent.

On the other hand, the dear HR director wanted me to know that not this week but probably next they are going to post an opening for a scheduler at TriMet and I should keep my eye open for that. ;) I think she likes me.

What I also did was gussy up a little, write a cover letter, and make yet more use of [livejournal.com profile] vampireborg's graciously lent blazer to stop into SolarWorld AG's local office and drop off my letter; résumé; awards, honors, and recognition; and references for the quasi-HR-director there. *crosses fingers* I REALLY want to work there. It's close, it's green, and it's the softer side of tech.

*sigh* I bet you put a name on your cover letter, and not "Sir or Madam." *is not bitter at the latest crop we got, no, not at all*

Lord, I hate reading resumes. *grins*

Good luck!

Sadly, no, did not have a name at that time. But I totally have a name for the follow up email I'll be sending in a few days!

However, I had two copies printed -- one Sir and one Madam, and I handed over the one appropriate for the person.

Oooh, that's good! I know a lot of companies won't give out names of HR staff, but it bugs me when people don't make any kind of effort. Good thing I don't do HR much, isn't it?

I hope you get something amazing--TriMet would be awesome, but the other companies sound great, too.
