It seems the diet may need to be temporarily abandoned while I keep the milk from spoiling. Turns out it is not Sons1-3 who go through three gallons of milk in a week, it's me. That, or eating at school eliminates their desire to eat cereal at all hours of the day.
The good news is, there are brownies to go with the milk I must guzzle, and I'm not going to give up all the improvements to my diet (i.e., eliminating pure sugar from my drinks). Also, Splenda is on sale at Bi-Mart, and I'm still in the market for a bread machine -- preferably a 1-pound machine.
kkinnick_blgspt is keeping an eye on the Goodwill bins for one for me, but if you know of one elsewhere that I could have for $10 or less, drop a note. I'm also seeking a simple food processor (S blade is all I'm sure I need, though a grater would also be nice -- do those go in the same machine?) in the same price range. And it wouldn't hurt me to have a new hard drive, 80 GB or better. I currently have 120 GB, but it randomly decides to park, spin up, park, spin up, then freeze.
In the meantime, Delta was 4 for a while. Today it appears to be 2. This afternoon I'm going to Costco, because I'm out of too many things that simply won't wait (cat food, soap), and I may stop by GNC as well to see if they have the ingredients I need to make nearly carb-free versions of my favorite things.
In other news, I saw Serenity for the third time last night with
butterfly & D*, courtesy of D*. Yes, it was worth it. I'd say more, but I'd hate to spoil. Besides,
butterfly is making all the insightful comments over at her journal, which I highly recommend if you've seen Serenity or if you don't care about spoilers. She's also cool like that about Star Wars, and makes extensive use of spoiler-hiding cut-tags, so if you want to read cool, thoughtful, interconnective stuff about the Republic Trilogy and the Empire Trilogy, give her a read.
In the previews was a trailer for
Jarhead, a soldier movie taking place during Desert Storm. I remember seeing news-bits about that during Channel One while I was in high school. IMO, the first Bush outstrips W as a war president by orders of magnitude. I'm going to see this movie. OTOH, I am
not going to see Doom, another trailer in the previews. There were other trailers, but they were unmemorable.
Hmmm. It may be that I now have a two brownie limit. I'm looking at the last one and having difficulty convincing my body that eating it is a good idea. Fortunately its response is less vigorous than its rejection of a third bite of pork sausage, but all the same, I think I'll pass. *sigh*
jic: Do you want the last brownie?
butterfly: Do I want the last brownie?
jic: I asked you first.
Today, I may or may not run downtown to see Fr. John's Eldest, because I also need to visit Costco and help
jg_taz_or move.
kunzite1 is helping, too. Oh! Since I'm reverting to my previous diet today, I get to have pizza! Hmm. Maybe not such a good idea. We'll see how I feel later. I should perhaps boil some eggs, just in case.
I should quit typing now.
