I've been with Local Utility for five years as of last September, and it's super awesome and I love it. My team has always had a challenge getting good work funded, though.
Also last September, I got a new manager. Who is pretty much carelessly but not maliciously offensive in every possible way. To the point where I gave Very Constructive Recommendations on our last employee engagement survey of last year and then, in mid-April, actually filed an HR complaint about her aggressively mis-gendering me. On Monday is our first intentional conversation since then. I'm a bit nervous.
This morning I woke up from a dream where the date was Thursday May 28, and at our daily stand-up meeting (a scrum ceremony - you don't have to google it if you're not interested in tech, it's not super relevant), a person who is NOT our manager announced to everyone that [Contractor's] last day would be "tomorrow", which was news to everyone including [Contractor]. Awkward. Cue awkward laughter from [Contractor] and everyone else. And then he admits that he's already spent his next paycheck so this is kind of a problem. I wake up. I get to work, and a couple hours in, I get an email from [Vendor Employee] that today is his last day with [Vendor]! And then at a later meeting, I hear from a colleague that he heard my manager that apparently I'm not going to be working on the Big Project for much longer? Which is news to me - because due to the aforementioned HR complaint, I haven't had a real conversation with Manager in a month, and I'm kinda freaking out.
In other news, my partner and I just started watching White Collar (after I showed them Talitha78's songvid. And I'm both reading and watching The Witcher, and we're watching Manifest.
In other other news, We're mid-remodel of my bathroom. There's a LOT of dust.
