Dewey's pretty cute with his machinations, and Malcolm is cute when he's being brilliant about the enzymes and gene splicing, but Fancis!! Cute, just enough prankster to be funny, yet he's softy enough to want to safe a piglet from slaughter. He wants to teach the runt to be tough so it won't be starved out be the rest of the litter! He buys two dozen candy bars from Dewey to prove their mom wrong about whether he can sell any (which was a lie, but he was trying to help his brother!)There are very few kinds of dumb that I find adorable, but Francis has it.
