Today I asked Son3 if he was my favorite baby (he protests being called baby now). He said (of course), “No, but I can be your favorite son.”

“I can’t have a favorite son. It’s in the Mommy Code,” I replied.

“The Mommy Code?”

“Yep.”

“Why not?” he asked.

I said, “Because if I make one son my favorite, my other sons will feel bad.”

Son3 thought for a moment before offering, “I can be your favorite 10 year-old son.”
