There's a conversation in [livejournal.com profile] sg_workshop about The Joy of Beta (members only, sorry). I want my response to be heard, but to post it there would feel like 1) I'm whining or 2) I want to suck the joy out of everyone else's experience.

Well, I am kind of whining, but I don't want to be their buzzkill, so I'm posting my responses here.

I feel so negative! Pity party for one, right this way )

Okay then. What I write tends to reflect my mental state in some fashion. I mean, not directly -- I'd never actually do the things my characters do -- but when the voices in my head are bitter and angry, I write stuff like "Not Bluffing" and the WIP "Evil!Wade, Bad!Sync, and Ashley Parker Angel."

Right now, the voices in my head are all self-sacrificing and (trying to be) brilliant and (again, trying to be) snarky, and certainly not all fucked up and torturing each other.

It's really hard to stay in the sociopath mindset when the muses are trying to take bullets for each other. Not that I mind having healthy muses, but it's making it terribly difficult to finish Not Bluffing (though I've managed to hand off half a scene to [livejournal.com profile] vampireborg to type up for me because she's nice that way).

So that's that, and I'm tempted to race [livejournal.com profile] frostfire_17 to see if I can finish a version of SG-1:Mitchell!GSF (though I'm sure she'll do it better). Well, maybe I'll wait until after the second part of the episode. Also, there's a Sheppard centric bit o' angst in a few inboxes right now, and I REALLY REALLY HOPE SOMEONE TELLS ME IF I MADE THE MARK. I also need to write the Sheppard/McKay that starts with post-mission massage. And the Secret Siblings backstory that will reference Siege III and Messages from Pegasus.

Gah!

On writing....

The whopping 147 words I've managed to write today do not comprise enough of a scene to post. It's flipping hot outside, and I have a head cold, and I don't have air conditioning.

Meh.

OTOH, at Tracy's office, I wrote a little bit of McKay/Sheppard!

Do I think less of men who are attracted to women?

Since it intrigued me (I'm intrigued by things I usually take for granted this early in the morning), I asked [livejournal.com profile] butterfly to look up "collywobbles"

1) severe gastroenteritis of unknown etilogy: characterized by severe colic and vomiting and diarrhea.
2) [Brit] queasiness or general discomfort caused by nervousness.

Cheery sort of word, eh?  We need them to add "Pleasant wibbling" to the def. in order to reflect slasher usage.

Okay, so I've been working on continuing a fic I left hanging and haven't touched in like a year.

I just went back and checked - I wrote the first half of it in alternating first person.

I've been writing the second half in third person omniscient. *faceplant*
